Mayor's Export Initiative

Mayor Garcetti's Export Initiative

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s export initiative promotes international trade objectives that improve the region’s overall economic viability. The Mayor's Export Initiative focuses on building a stronger, more expansive export base by helping Los Angeles-area companies find international markets for their products, services, and specialized commodities. Exporting--selling your products or services outside the United States--is a great way to grow a better business.  Whether you are an established business or an ambitious start-up, exports can help you expand your bottom line by increasing and diversifying your sales, growing a global presence and brand, accessing world-wide distribution networks, enhancing competitiveness and taking advantage of international economies of scale and experience.

Merely by being in proximity to Los Angeles, you already have an export advantage.  Los Angeles has world-class trade infrastructure including the Port of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles International Airport.  Together, these global hubs connect domestic businesses to over 200 economies worldwide and facilitate hundreds of billions of dollars in business annually. The Trade Connect Program at the Port of Los Angeles is an essential element of this initiative, which has guided local businesses to understand and utilize the resources required to successfully export products. Trade Connect assists exporters with key challenges, and provides participants with a variety of specialized training, counseling and financial services through city, state, and federal partners.
