SUN, FUN, AND COMMUNITY: PORT OF LOS ANGELES ANNOUNCES SUMMER EVENTS ON THE LA WATERFRONT
Cars & Stripes Forever!® Classic Car Show, FIFA World Cup 26™ Fan Zone at West Harbor, Among Highlights
June 10, 2026 – With summer just around the corner, the Port of Los Angeles announces a lineup of events designed to bring families, friends, and community together to soak up the sun and take advantage of all the LA Waterfront has to offer.
The summer kicks off with the annual Port of Los Angeles 2026 Cars & Stripes Forever! classic car show on June 26, which this year will celebrate both “America250” and the centennial of Route 66, one of the most famous highways in the U.S. Featuring dozens of classic cars, the annual Port-hosted event will host live music, a beer garden, food trucks, and a new “Classic Car People’s Choice Award” given to the crowd-favorite car entry. The free public event will be held from 5-9 p.m. in front of Battleship IOWA at 250 S. Harbor Blvd. in San Pedro.
FIFA World Cup fever is heating up across the U.S. and along the LA Waterfront. The West Harbor development has been designated as a Los Angeles World Cup 26 Fan Zone, where soccer enthusiasts can watch live matches. West Harbor’s viewing parties are scheduled for July 14-15 and July 18-19, which includes broadcasts of semi-final and final match play. The viewing parties will include soccer-inspired activities, interactive experiences, food and drinks for purchase, and a live DJ. Tickets can be purchased here.
Other upcoming summer events on the LA Waterfront, many of which receive Port of Los Angeles Community Investment Grants, include:
• June 16 (8 p.m.) and June 30 (7:30 p.m.) – Grunion Runs at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium – Join aquarium experts to watch the captivating grunion come up on the beach to spawn. Learn about the mating rituals and biology of this curious fish.
• June 27 – Vintage Summer Wilmington Artwalk Extravaganza – Enjoy a free concert featuring the Beatles tribute band “Liverpool Mania” along with Wilmington’s own “Mighty Marching Pilots” Banning High School Band. Hosted by Avalon Arts & Cultural Alliance and partners, the Vintage Summer event includes food, crafts and a beer garden from 3-8 p.m. at the Wilmington Waterfront Promenade, 100 E. Water Street, in Wilmington.
• July 4 – The 76th Annual John Olguin Fireworks Extravaganza – The Cabrillo Beach Boosters invite you to attend their annual VIP party on July 4th in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States at the Plaza at Cabrillo Way Marina from 5-8 p.m. This ticketed event includes a BBQ feast, live entertainment, dancing and a free public waterfront fireworks display over Cabrillo Beach at 9 p.m.
• July 10 and 11 – Shakespeare by the Sea – Enjoy a timeless experience this summer with a free outdoor performance of MacBeth. This event returns for two nights at the bandshell at Point Fermin Park, with performances starting at 7 p.m.
• Aug. 15 – San Pedro Pride Festival – Join Bridge Cities Alliance for San Pedro Pride 2026, a festival celebrating love and diversity. The free event will be held from 4-10 p.m. at AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles.
• Sept. 26 – Free Harbor Boat Tours of the Port of Los Angeles – Explore the Port of Los Angeles and its many landmarks and attractions with a free boat tour of the busiest containerport in the Western Hemisphere. Tours will depart from Downtown Harbor in San Pedro between 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and will include one pet friendly tour and one Spanish-language tour.
In addition to LA Waterfront events, visitors can also experience authentic moments in Los Angeles history with stops at the Harbor area’s many historical sites and museums. These include iconic places like Battleship IOWA, S.S. Lane Victory, Los Angeles Maritime Museum, Banning House, among others. Music and art lovers can enjoy First Thursday Art Tours in downtown San Pedro throughout the summer, and enjoy a sunset sail on a tall ship with Los Angeles Maritime Institute.
The LA Waterfront at the Port of Los Angeles is home to more than 100 family friendly events each year, from small community gatherings to large-scale, multiday events.
