PORT OF LOS ANGELES TO HOST REIMAGINED EARTH DAY EVENT SUNDAY, APRIL 19
2026 Theme of ‘Our Power, Our Planet’ Underscores Community Collaboration
April 14, 2026 — The Port of Los Angeles will host its biggest Earth Day Celebration yet along the Wilmington Waterfront Promenade, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Sunday, April 19. The free, family and pet-friendly event will feature more than two dozen exhibitors, showcasing sustainable activities, services and innovations.
This expansive celebration picks up the mantle of the annual Earth Day Chalk Fest, an event hosted by the Port at Wilmington Waterfront Park for nearly two decades. This year’s global Earth Day theme of “Our Power, Our Planet” focuses on creating change in the community.
“The Wilmington Waterfront Promenade is the ideal setting for the Port’s Earth Day event,” said Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka, “Working alongside our neighbors in the surrounding harbor communities, we can amplify our environmental goals and further our mission to raise awareness of sustainable best practices that shape the future of our Port and planet.”
The event will open with a Native American Blessing of the Earth, followed by a bird of prey live show, cultural demonstrations, performances and more. Attendees will enjoy sustainable crafts, along with environmental giveaways and displays from the Port’s Environmental Management Division.
City Plants, a program funded by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, will provide a limited supply of free trees for City of Los Angeles residents. Port engineers will offer guided tours spotlighting sustainable design features including green engineering and drought-tolerant plants.
