Jan. 24, 2025 – The Port of Los Angeles has released two high-tech drone videos showcasing both the breadth and depth of its cargo operations, as well as up-close and expansive views of the LA Waterfront and its many iconic attractions. The videos debuted during Port Executive Director Gene Seroka’s keynote at the 10th Annual State of the Port event on January 23.
“These videos provide soaring views, and a new perspective of the vibrancy and energy of the Port of Los Angeles,” said Port of Los Angeles Communications Director Phillip Sanfield. “They tell the visual story of just how much transformational change and investment have gone into both our operations and the LA Waterfront.”
The videos were made using specialized technology called First-Person Point of View (POV), in which a Go-Pro equipped drone is flown through the smallest of spaces often unreachable by traditional aerial cameras. The effect is a sweeping look at the scale of both the Port and LA Waterfront from unique angles and locations.
The first video takes viewers on an aerial tour of the many attractions and historic locations on the LA Waterfront, making stops at Angels Gate Lighthouse, AltaSea, CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles, the soon-to-open West Harbor dining and entertainment complex, Battleship IOWA, Los Angeles Cruise Terminal, Wilmington Waterfront Promenade and more. Many of the featured attractions are part of the Port’s $500 million investment in the LA Waterfront made through the Port’s Public Access Investment Program over the past decade.
The second video provides footage of the innerworkings of the Port as well as its vast cargo operations. Showcasing cargo and terminals in action, the video features unique views of a Los Angeles Port Pilot boarding a vessel at sea, close-ups of containers being moved, rail operation and truck operations, and some of the latest zero-emission technology in use at the Port.
The videos were produced in partnership with the Port by Sky Candy Studios, a company specializing in drone videography.
