Public Has Until Aug. 25 to Review and Comment on Proposed Project
SAN PEDRO, Calif. – July 15, 2021 – The Port of Los Angeles has extended the public comment period to Aug. 25 to provide opportunity for additional public comment on a Revised Draft Environmental Impact Report (Revised Draft EIR) for the Southern California International Gateway (SCIG) Project.
SCIG is a proposed BNSF intermodal rail yard facility that would be located on an existing industrial site within four miles of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, with direct access to the Alameda Rail Corridor.
In accordance with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the Port released a Revised Draft EIR for the SCIG project on May 19, for an original 45-day period of public review and comment that ended on July 9 and was extended to July 30. A public meeting was held on July 15, 2021, to present the Revised Draft EIR and receive public comments. At the request of commenters, the Port has doubled the time period for public comments, now accepting comments on the Revised Draft EIR through Aug. 25. All environmental documents related to the SCIG Project, including the Revised Draft EIR, are available here.
