PORT OF LOS ANGELES TO HOLD JUNE 15 VIRTUAL MEETING FOR PUBLIC COMMENT ON REVISED DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA INTERNATIONAL GATEWAY (SCIG) PROJECT

 
 
SAN PEDRO, Calif. – June 8, 2021 – The Port of Los Angeles will host a virtual public meeting via Zoom at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15 to provide opportunity for public comment on a Revised Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Southern California International Gateway (SCIG) Project.  Participants should limit their comments to addressing the information provided in the Revised Draft EIR.

After a brief overview of the proposed project, Port officials will take comments from the public.  Speakers will be limited to three minutes.

Comments sent via email should include “SCIG Project” in the subject line and a valid mailing address in the email. The Port released a Revised Draft EIR for the SCIG project on May 19, for a 45-day period of public review and comment, ending on July 9. All environmental documents related to the SCIG Project, including the Revised Draft EIR, are available here.
 
SCIG is a new BNSF intermodal rail yard facility that would eliminate truck trips from area freeways, with corresponding air quality, health risk, and traffic congestion reduction benefits.  SCIG would be located on an existing industrial site within four miles of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, with direct access to the Alameda Rail Corridor.
