Applications due May 10
SAN PEDRO, Calif. – March 1, 2021 – The Port of Los Angeles has opened the application process for its annual 2021-22 Community Investment Grant Program. Each year since 2013, the program has provided up to $1 million in non-taxpayer funded grants to local nonprofit organizations in support of events, programs and projects that benefit the Los Angeles Harbor community.
Interested nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status can apply for grants in three categories, ranging from small (less than $5,000), to medium ($5,001-$99,999) to large (more than $100,000). Activities and programs considered for grants must promote or support local workforce development, education, the environment or the LA Waterfront.
Due to COVID gathering restrictions this year, an applicant informational workshop will be held virtually via Zoom at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 1. Interested organizations can join the meeting at this Zoom link. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on Monday, May 10.
A grant committee comprised of Port, City and community representatives will review all grant applications. Recommended grantees will be announced to the Board of Harbor Commissioners in July. Funds for this grant pilot program come from Port revenues, which are non-tax supported.
