PORTS TO HOST CLEAN TRUCK FUND RATE PUBLIC WORKSHOPS
First Meeting Will Be Held Online Aug. 26; Second Slated for Sept. 1
SAN PEDRO, Calif. — Aug. 12, 2021 —The San Pedro Bay ports (Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach) will host two public stakeholder outreach workshops to solicit feedback and recommendations on the development of specific implementation details of the ports’ Clean Truck Fund (CTF) Rate and CTF spending plan. Both open to the public, the first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 26, at 9 a.m. via Zoom, with the second meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 4:30 p.m. via Zoom. Spanish translation will be provided at both meetings.
The first meeting will discuss policies related to low-NOx trucks and a spending plan for the CTF. The second meeting will discuss potential equity issues of the proposed CTF Rate, with a particular focus on the impacts to drayage truck drivers.

The CAAP 2017 Update is a comprehensive strategy for accelerating progress toward a zero-emission future while protecting and strengthening the ports’ competitive position in the global economy. Since 2005, port-related air pollution emissions in San Pedro Bay have dropped 88% for diesel particulate matter, 60% for nitrogen oxides, and 97% for sulfur oxides. Targets for reducing greenhouse gases from port-related sources were introduced as part of the 2017 CAAP. The document calls for the ports to reduce GHGs 40% below 1990 levels by 2030 and 80% below 1990 levels by 2050. The Clean Air Action Plan was originally approved in 2006.
